An Ohio county prosecutor is suing the Sandusky Register for defamation, claiming the paper fabricated a story saying a law enforcement officer testified the attorney had used cocaine.

According to the Register, the suit is borne of an ongoing, heated dispute between an editor and the prosecutor, Kevin Baxter. The paper said it stands by its work, and that the testimony — most of which was ultimately stricken from the record — came during a civil service hearing.
