A reporter and six protesters were arrested by the Philadelphia police at the Army Experience Center (AEC) on Sept. 12, OpEdNews.com reported. OpEdNews.com reporter Cheryl Biren was taking photos of policing arresting protesters when her own arrest occurred.

Don't want to speak too soon, but on this last day of the Democratic National Convention it seems the events in Denver have unfolded minus the tense drama of waves of journalists swept into masses of detained protesters that marked the 2004 convention in New York City.

Indeed, the Reporters Committee hotline -- staffed in Denver by the law firm Levine Sullivan Koch & Schulz, L.L.P., to provide journalists with free legal assistance -- has recorded exactly zero calls so far.

 A jury acquitted former Galveston County Daily News photographer Nick Adams on Wednesday, more than a year after he was charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly interfering with police by refusing to stop taking pictures of an arrest during the city’s Mardi Gras festivities.

Adams, now with the Appeal-Democrat [Marysville] in Northern California, was arrested in February 2007 after a League City, Texas, police officer told him to stop taking photographs.

The embattled chief of a coal-producing company warned an ABC News producer that he was “liable to get shot” if he took video of him.

The incident occurred earlier this week in Kentucky when the producer, Asa Eslocker, was seeking comment from Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship regarding his controversial relationship with the chief justice of the West Virginia Supreme Court.

Reporter attacked while covering story

An angry mob attacked TV reporter Charmayne Brown and photographer Ti Barnes while they were reporting from the scene of a homicide investigation, WSPA reports. Video of the attack shows that four people, including the mother and sister of a suspect in the investigation, surrounded Brown while punching her and dragging her to the ground. Brown also said the crowd yelled racial slurs at her and Barnes, who are black. Police arrested all four of the assailants.
