Endowment Fund Policy

The purpose of the Reporters Committee Endowment Fund is to fund core staff and programs, including staff salaries and other operational expenses.

The Endowment Fund is administered by an investment committee that is responsible for overseeing the investment and expenditure of endowment funds. The Reporters Committee retains the services of a registered investment advisor to manage the Endowment Fund. The investment committee receives quarterly detailed reports on investments from the fund's financial adviser.

The Steering Committee meets twice annually to review the investment policy and approve the use of distributions generated by the endowment. The investment advisor provides detailed reports on the investments to the Steering Committee at these meetings.

The Reporters Committee maintains an endowment for the purpose of funding core staff and programs by utilizing the interest earned by the endowment corpus.

Donations to the endowment fund are accepted from organizations and individuals in conformance with the Reporters Committee's fundraising policy as set by the Steering Committee.

It is the policy of the Reporters Committee to invest the endowment funds in a prudent manner. Endowment funds shall be invested in a manner designed to preserve the endowment corpus. Investments shall stress safety and strive for growth. It is the Reporters Committee's policy to achieve this goal through a diversified portfolio of investments.
