The U.S. Army's decision to limit media access at a Sarah Palin's public book signing scheduled for Monday at Fort Bragg prompted a media outcry yesterday.

Fort Bragg officials announced Thursday morning that the base would be open to the general public but that media would not be allowed to cover the event, the Fayetteville Observer reported. An Army official cited concerns that media presence would create a forum for criticizing President Barack Obama.

The Observer's editor wrote a letter protesting the decision, and the Army later agreed to allow restricted media access.

A small pool of reporters will be allowed to document the event but not to cover or conduct interviews. The Associated Press reported that its Associate General Counsel Dave Tomlin said the proposed pools and interview restrictions are "unlawful and unacceptable."

"If Army regulations forbid 'political events', the Army should have considered that before allowing Palin to hold a public autograph session for a political book on the base," Tomlin said.

Palin began a tour this week to promote her book, "Going Rogue."

Sarah Palin's public book signing on a military base may be a first proving she has great respect for our men and women in uniform. 'Going Rogue' absolutely!

Sarah Palin is dumb as nails. Her people know this, hence restricting the media access.

The US Military loves Sarah, and won't throw her to the wolves--Palin has proven her loyalty to the troops and to America......unlike that idiot Obama who hates the US military and any notion of victory, as he spends all his time apologizing and bending over in front of dictators and bafoons alike--dithering endlessly while putting our troops in harm' sway. No, the US military defends the Constitution (which Palin represents), not the Communist Manifesto, which Obama represents.

Sarah Palin is the dumber than a bull's nut sac. I will agree she represents the dodo birds that are the American extreme right wing, bitter old people with two fingers on intellect and the sophomoric demagogues pundits well. She is a prime example of mediocrity being passed as brilliance, something well and alive in the "heartland", whatever that is....

Sarah is an narcissistic bitch who is willing to abandon her duties as an elected official to further her own egotistical self-absorbed agenda. This woman is the anti-christ if I have ever seen one.

This is horrible! Palin should not be allowed on the grounds of a United States military property. She is only going to use it to display disrespect for our President.

To the commanding officer at Fort Bragg. Bye Bye. Who's your boss. Palin is nothing but an author. Maybe we can have Daniele Steele next.

As a former registered Democrat I would like to express my joy in not being affiliated with a group that displays their classless comments over and over again. It reassures me I did the right thing when I changed my party. Wake up people, or are you that emotionally dedicated to "a Party"?? So much so, you will chance your country's demise. Sad :>(

If the Liberals would look at history the Conservatives support the Military so much more, And they show so much more respect to their fellow human beings. And most Liberals don't believe in God. So yes as a former/Retired U.S. Marine , I support Mrs. Palin's book signing.

It's a real shame that the army officials didn't follow their first instincts and make Palin's visit private. By succumbing to media pressure they allowed Palin to politicize and exploit it, both as a vulgar publicity stunt (c'mon her big donation of books was a gimmick so she could pretend she "loved America's troops")and as a platform from which to launch a lie-filledm missile attack on President Obama, our elected Commander-in-Chief.

Her hysterical Fox-TV claims that he just didn't "respect and acknowledge our troops" and didn't "understand the sacrifices they made" blah blah were classic Palin dishonesty at its best, since Obama is probably one of US veterans best legislative advocates who in both the Illinois Senates has done more than other to author, sponsor and pass laws to help veterans and their families, with health care, hospital management for returning wounded warriors, tax aid, proper housing, adjustment back into civilian life, help for post traumatic stress disorder. You name it, culinating in two huge bills he championed and signed this year, including the Post 9/11 GI Bill (which Bush & McCain fought) giving veterans of Iraq & Afghanistan the opportunity to gte a free college education.

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin, self-appointed patriot extraordinaire, what did you do as Mayor of Wasilla and Governor of Alaska to honor and improve the quality of life of Alaska's veterans? Or are you just a mean-spirited attack dog with lipstick, who doesn't walk your talk?
