9. Confidential informants.

The identity of any witness need not but may be disclosed unless disclosure is prohibited under § 19.2-11.2. Va. Code. Ann. §2.2-3706(D). But the identity of any individual providing information about a crime or criminal activity under a promise of anonymity shall not be disclosed. Va. Code. Ann. § 2.2-3706(E).
