Doggone, Governor Must Turn Over E-Mails

The Kentucky attorney general has told the governor he must release all e-mail messages sent to and from his personal government address. The 10-page opinion said Gov. Ernie Fletcher had not met the required “burden of proof” showing that e-mails to the “sadie@ky.gov” site — named after his deceased golden retriever — were not related to official business. The governor’s office, in response to a Louisville Courier-Journal request, had withheld all but three e-mails received at the “sadie” site. (8/31/05)
