Attorneys and staff members of the Reporters Committee routinely participate in and sponsor a variety of public events related to press freedom, including journalist trainings, panel discussions, conferences, and more. Below, check out the list of upcoming events — both in-person and virtual — and join us!


Sunshine Week 2026

Multiple members of the Reporters Committee will be participating in events around Sunshine Week, an annual occasion to celebrate and promote government transparency and the public’s right to know.

  • March 16, at Sunshine Fest: “AI: Threats and opportunities,” with Director of National Litigation Adam Marshall — A look at how AI is being applied by public records requesters and agencies.
  • March 16, at Sunshine Fest: “Police transparency,” with Local Legal Initiative Director Eric Feder — A look at the state of law enforcement transparency, including access to disciplinary records and bodycam video.
  • March 17, at Sunshine Fest: FOIA trivia contest (lunch), with Marshall
  • March 17, at Sunshine Fest: “Power tool,” with Marshall — Learn how to create your own AI-based tool to find the existence of records in your agency, locale, or interest area.
  • March 18, organized by Penn State University and hosted by the Pennsylvania Center for the First Amendment: “Sunlight in Happy Valley: Confronting Penn State’s Transparency Gap,” with Pennsylvania Local Legal Initiative Attorney Paula Knudsen Burke
  • March 19, organized by the Pennsylvania Bar Association: “From Requests to Appeals: A Sunshine Week Right to Know Law Program,” with Burke
