Illinois Supreme Court judges decided they have “absolute privilege” on their internal documents and thus do not have to release their memos to each other to columnist Bill Page of the Kane County Chronicle. The ruling came in a libel suit against the columnist filed by Chief Justice Bob Thomas. Page said he needed the memos to defend himself. What he’ll get instead is a list and general description of the memos. (10/25/05)
