IRS Withholds Information on Tax Enforcement, Researcher Says

The Internal Revenue Service is violating a court order to make public data on its tax enforcement, Syracuse University professor Susan B. Long, who sued in 1976 and won continuing release of the information, said in papers filed in the U.S. District Court in Seattle. The information sought covers criminal investigations, tax collections, the number and hours devoted to audits by income level and taxpayer category and other enforcement records. (1/9/06)
