Wisconsin: Bill Introduced to Let Record Requesters Be Anonymous

A bill has been filed to change Wisconsin law in order to let records requesters look at the financial disclosure information submitted by public officials and to make those requests without giving their name and company affiliation. The current state law requires a person to provide the personal information, which is then sent to the official whose records are viewed. Open records advocates said the current law serves to intimidate requesters. (1/9/06)
