In Utah Government, Will One Number Fit All?

Utah’s state government has decided that oneness is in. The Legislature approved a bill, immediately signed by the governor, that allows stage agencies to list a single phone number for any, and apparently all, employees. A provision, drafted by aides who wanted quick access to their legislator bosses, was designed to let the lawmakers keep their state-purchased BlackBerry numbers private. But the wording applies to all employees however and appears to permit a department to list a single number for everyone. (2-9-06)
