Pentagon Releases Documents With Names of Detainees

After four years of secrecy, the Pentagon has released documents that contain the names of many of the 469 prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. A federal judge ruled in favor of the Associated Press in a law suit seeking release of the thousands of pages of court transcripts. The Bush administration had refused hidden the identities, home countries and other information about the men, captured in Afghanistan, saying release of the information would violate the detainees’ privacy and could endanger them and their families.
