The Washington Coalition for Open Government is asking all 1,000 candidates for state offices to sign a pledge to strictly follow the state’s laws on open meetings and public records and to endorse the preamble to those laws, which states: “The people of this state do not yield their sovereignty to the agencies that serve them. The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know.” (9/8/06)
