The Federal Communications Commission ordered staff to destroy “every last piece” of a draft study that suggested greater concentration of media ownership would hurt local TV news coverage, according to a former lawyer at the agency. And at least one copy of the 2004 report survived and was sent recently to Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-CA, who raised the issue at the confirmation hearing for FCC Chairman Kevin Martin. (9/15/06)
