TSA Plans to Fingerprint Sensitive Security Information Requesters

Earlier this year, Congress directed that the Transportation Security Administration release records designated as Sensitive Security Information to individuals, preparing for court action, who demonstrate a substantial need and who have attempted to obtain equivalent information by other means in preparation for trial. TSA responded on Nov. 1 by filing notice of a new rule requiring those requesters to be fingerprinted and subject to background checks before gaining access to the information. (11/6/06)
