Harry Reid, D-Nev., the incoming majority leader, said in a floor speech he wants a more open government: “If people don’t see what we are doing and there are no results, it is not as it should be.” As part of that openness, he suggested Congress to return to open conference meetings of an earlier era. “Open government, these checks and balances our Founding Fathers set forth.” (11/14/06)
