Florida Governor-Elect Charlie Crist, in his first official act, announced that he will open an Open Government unit in the governor’s office. The new section will give the governor’s office and state agencies guidance in how to quickly and completely fill public records requests and provide ongoing training on government transparency and accountability. JoAnn Carrin, who was ,Crist’s communicati9ons director when he was attorney general, will direct the office. Pat Gleason, who has long specialized in records law matters in the AG’s office, will serve as special open government counsel. (12/13/06)
