A bill to establish tough transparency mandates on lobbying, government propaganda and use of pseudo-classifiers to withhold information was approved by the House Subcommittee on Information Policy, Census and National Archives by a 29-0 vote. The bill, HR 984, introduced by Government Reform Chairman Rep. Henry Waxman, D-CA, and ranking committee member Tom Davis, R-VA, would require agencies to cooperate in a study by the National Archivist on which pseudo-classifiers should be banned and setting standards for use of those that remain.
