Five years into the War on Terror, spying has become a $42 billion growth industry, Indeed, some 70 percent of the government’s intelligence work is now outsourced, according to a figure revealed by a senior procurement executive at the Defense Intelligence Agency, Salon reports. Overall, there has been 38 percent increase in the number of private contracts since the mid-90s. (6/1/07)
