For two years, until it ran into funding problems, the National Security Agency held a series of off-the-record seminars to tech reporters about the dangers and damages of leaks of sensitive security information, hoping to deter reporting that might interfere with the agency’s spy mission. The New York Sun obtained a syllabus for the course, called SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) 101, using the Freedom of Information Act. (9/27/07)
