J. William Leonard, director of the Information Security Oversight Office, which is responsible for monitoring the agency’s classification system, will resign in January 2008. Leonard has been in that post since 2002 and has frequently been critical of agencies for overclassifying information. He also revealed earlier this year that the vice president’s office had failed to report on its classification activity since 2003. (10/1/07)
