The Electronic Frontier Foundation filed a Freedom of Information Act suit against the director of national intelligence seeking any records on lobbying activities by telecommunications companies to avoid any liability for assisting the government intelligence agencies in surveillance activities. Congress is considering an amnesty grant to the companies and the National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell has supported the amnesty. (10/19/08)
