A federal judge told the White House it may not destroy any backup computer tapes of its e-mails, at least until the resolution of pending litigation on what happened to an estimated 5 million messages over a 30- month period. The Bush administration had opposed the order but U.S. District Judge Henry H. Kennedy said he was not satisfied with assurances it was already preserving the tapes. (11/13/07)
