West Virginia high court will hear city's FOIA appeal

West Virginia’s Supreme Court agreed to hear the city of Charleston’s appeal of a case involving a newspaper’s Freedom of Information Act request for police timesheets.

The controversy began in July when the Charleston Gazette submitted a FOIA request for weekly timesheets for 28 local police officers. The newspaper’s request followed the conviction of former detective James L. “Chip” Nowling on felony computer fraud and obtaining by false pretenses charges.
