A Washington state agency that handles insurance for 128 cities has told the city of Monroe that it’s plan to throw open city records will result in “immediate termination” from the pool. The Monroe council sought to make city business as open and transparent as possible, including waiving the town’s rights to withhold documents on legal advice and negotiations if their lawyers said it wouldn’t open the city to liability.
