The following is the statement made by Reporters Committee Executive Director Lucy Dalglish:
We were saddened to learn of the death Friday of retired CBS News television anchor Walter Cronkite at the age of 92.
Mr. Cronkite had been one of the 30 members of the steering committee of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press since 1973.
We were proud of our association with the world’s foremost television journalist and grateful for the support he showed the Reporters Committee over the years. We will miss him.
