The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and Reporters Committee Senior Advisor Tony Mauro submitted a letter to the Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee regarding the public’s right of access in the federal court system. The testimony, which was accepted into the record for the September 26, 2019, hearing “The Federal Judiciary in the 21st Century: Ensuring the Public’s Right of Access to the Courts,” recommended that Congress require the Supreme Court and lower federal courts to allow audio and video access to its proceedings.
