ACLU Asks 3 Agencies for Records on Financial Data Surveillance

The American Civil Liberties Union filed Freedom of Information Act requests with three federal agencies to obtain details of the once-secret program to shift through financial records subpoenaed from SWIFT, an international financial cooperative. The ACLU said the public has a right to know “just how many spying programs this administration has created without Congressional authorization.” The information requests were filed with the CIA, Treasury Department and Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
