The American Civil Liberties Union has filed suit in Arkansas to force the state to make its execution process fully open. Currently, certain parts of the execution process, including the strapping of the prisoner to a gurney, are done behind a curtain and cannot be observed by execution witnesses. The ACLU is joined in the suit by the Arkansas chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and by the Arkansas Times and its editor. (7/26/07)
