ACLU Sues for Records on Peace Group Surveillance in Montana

The American Civil Liberties Union of Montana filed a Freedom of Information Act request for with three federal departments, Justice, Homeland Security and Defense, asking for information on the monitoring of eight peace and environmental groups in the state over the last five years, and the use of the Patriot Act in obtaining information on the groups. The suit says the groups have “real concerns that their civil liberties are being violated.” (6/9/06)
