Oakland, CA, police say they will revise their policies on release of records. The pledge follows an audit of police departments around the state on compliance with the state public records law. Oakland received a failing grade in the audit. The new policy includes training for all officers handling records. A spokesman acknowledged that the audit was a “wake up call for us.” (3/22/07)
