After Reports on Lawmaker Inquiries, FBI Director Issues Leak Warnings

In the wake of news articles reporting criminal investigations of incumbent lawmakers, FBI Director Robert S. Mueller warned the bureau’s nearly 30,000 employees against leaking of confidential information. “Such disclosures do serious damage to our investigations and risk unfairly tarnishing the subjects of our investigations who enjoy the presumption of innocence,” Mueller said In other election season memoranda, senor Justice Department officials also warned department members against leaks.
