AID Plans to Privately Vet Non-Profit Group Employees

The Bush Administration plans to ask nonprofit organizations receiving Agency for International Development funds to submit information on key personnel, including phone numbers, birth dates and e-mail addresses. The data will be used for a “full national screening” but AID said it will not share the results with the respective non-profit. The agency said results of the vetting won’t be shared because it will be based on “classified and sensitive law enforcement and intelligence information.” (8/23/07)
