The Associated Press filed a Freedom of Information Act suit in U.S. District Court in New York in an effort to obtain petitions that John Walker Lindh has filed to have his 20-year prison sentence shortened. Lindh was captured in Afghanistan in 2001 and pleaded guilty to carrying weapons against U.S. forces. The Justice Department claims release of the documents would violate his privacy. (3/6/06)
