Christopher Proczko

Christopher Proczko is the Reporters Committee’s staff attorney in Minnesota, leading the organization’s legal work in the state as part of the Local Legal Initiative.

After law school, Christopher clerked for U.S. District Judge Richard H. Kyle, U.S. Magistrate Judge Tony N. Leung, and then-U.S. Magistrate Judge Katherine Menendez in the District of Minnesota. He practiced at Ballard Spahr and Sapientia Law Group, where he represented journalists and media organizations in public records and First Amendment matters, newsgathering, pre-publication review, and transparency and access litigation. Christopher joins the Reporters Committee from the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, where he returned to serve as career law clerk to Magistrate Judge Shannon Elkins.

Christopher earned his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law and a bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College. He lives in St. Paul with his wife and children.
