Kennison Lay

Kennison Lay is a staff attorney for the Reporters Committee's Local Legal Initiative, working together with the other program attorneys across the country to support and protect the rights of local journalists.

Kennison joins the Reporters Committee from Ballard Spahr LLP in Phoenix, Arizona, where she represented and counseled media organizations, journalists, and other content creators and litigated complex commercial disputes. Among other things, her practice has included pursuing access to public records, protecting journalists from efforts to compel their privileged materials, and defending clients in defamation, privacy, and related First Amendment litigation.

Kennison earned her J.D. from University of California, Los Angeles. She currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
