Michael Zwirn

Director of Development

Michael Zwirn joins the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press as Director of Development, responsible for the organization’s donor outreach and fundraising to advance its mission to protect First Amendment freedoms and the newsgathering rights of journalists.

Michael brings a strong track record communicating policy and program outcomes to donors and the public, and expertise in fundraising operations, partnership development, and strategic communications. Previously, Michael worked in international development and wildlife and forest conservation, policy think tanks, and research institutions, along with political and policy advocacy in both a 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) context.

Michael has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Carleton College and a master’s of law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, where he focused on International Environment and Resource Policy and Southwest Asia and Islamic Civilization.

He lives with his wife and son and foster cat in Washington, D.C.
