Virginia Hamrick is the Reporters Committee's staff attorney in Louisiana, leading the organization's legal work in the state as part of the Local Legal Initiative.

Hamrick joins the Reporters Committee from the law firm Fishman Haygood, LLP, where she worked on a range of cases, including matters involving contract disputes and business torts. A former television news producer and graduate of the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Hamrick previously worked as a legal fellow for the Tulane Law School First Amendment Law Clinic, where she litigated public records, open meetings, and § 1983 cases, and as a staff attorney for the Florida First Amendment Foundation. She is based in New Orleans.
