Baltimore officials want the Maryland Supreme Court to grant confidentiality to the meetings and records of the Baltimore Development Corp., which has been the force behind many of the city’s largest developments since 1991. Working under a contract with the city, it acquires land for the projects and hires contractors. It claims the state open meetings and public records laws don’t apply. Suit against the BDC was brought by nine businesses being condemned as part of a redevelopment plan. (3/6/06)
