Stockton, Calif. is putting out some bucks to bring Neil Diamond to a gala concert in the town arena, but it won’t tell anyone just how many bucks that is. The city says there a secrecy provision in the contract. Asked by the Stockton Record whether the agreement violated state law, City Attorney Ren Nosky responded, “We’re well aware that the Public Records Act trumps any contractual provision that the city may be a party to. . …I’m going to explain to the council in closed session exactly what my take is on that.” Now we know.
