Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid sought to bring the Presidential Records Act Amendments to the floor for a vote under the Senate’s unanimous consent rule, but the effort was blocked by Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-AL, who placed a hold on the bill. The bill would overturn President Bush’s executive order which gives current and former presidents and vice presidents authority to withhold records or delay release indefinitely. (1/23/08)
