Budget Office Launches Website Detailing Federal Spending

The White House’s Office of Management and Budget launched a new website, USASpending.gov, designed to give taxpayers a better idea of where their federal dollars are being spent. They can serch by contracts and grants, contractor names, congressional districts and lawmakers. The site was prompted by legislation sponsored by Sens. Barack Obama, D-IL, and Tom Coburn, R-OK, and is modeled on one started by an open government advocacy group, OMB Watch. (12/14/07)
