Police in towns across California charge widely varying fees for copies of their incident reports, and in almost all cases more than the “direct cost of duplication” allowed by state law. The Contra Costa Times provided samples from an FOI audit that showed fees ranging from $1 to $11 for a several page document. (2/13/07).
