With the newly adopted Proposition 59, establishing a constitutional right access to government records, as a persuader, the California First Amendment Coalition has asked Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to release records of his appointments calendars, schedules and meetings logs since taking office a year ago. CFAC Executive Director Peter Scheer said the records would help the public understand “ what special interests have the governor’s ear and how much access they have and what issues mean most to them.” Proposition 59 was approved by 83 percent of the voters Tuesday.(11-5-04)
