Cheney’s Lawyer Told Secret Service Not to Record Visitor Data
· Story link
A lawyer for Vice President Dick Cheney told the Secret Service last September not to retain information on who visited Cheney at his official residence. The directive is in a newly disclosed letter, filed by the Justice Department in a lawsuit seeking the visitor logs. It contends the records are confidential under the Presidential Records Act. Justice also filed an 18-page Secret Service report saying that destruction of the visitor logs has long been a daily practice. (5/30/07)
