The CIA destroyed at least two videotapes of terrorist interrogations in 2005 despite Congressional and legal scrutiny of its secret detention program. CIA Director Michael V. Hayden, in a statement to employees apparently prompted by a pending New York Times story, said the tapes were destroyed to protect the safety of undercover officers. He said the tapes no longer had any intelligence value. (12/7/07)
