The city of Charleston, S.C. said that e-mails exchanged by city officials and experts hired to report on the fire department’s handling of a furniture store fire that killed nine firefighters were covered by attorney-client privilege and refused to release them to the Charleston Post and Courier. City officials had suggested changed in the report by e-mail before it was released. (11/16/07)
