Coach Paterno’s Salary Is Public Record, Pennsylvania Supreme Court Says

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court in a 4-2 ruling said that the salaries of Penn State University’s employees must be released on request unless disclosure would be “intrinsically harmful” to an individual.  The ruling came in a five year battle by the Patriot News for salary information for veteran football coach Joe Paterno and four other officiaials.  “Individuals and private entities cannot reasonably expect the commonwealth to keep secrets from its citizens regarding the disbursement of public funds, past, present or future,” the court said.
