Compensation Suit Against Dismissed as CIA Claims "State Secrets"

A federal district court in New York dismissed a lawsuit filed against the CIA by the family of a former CIA officer who is still undercover, saying the agency’s declaration that the case involved “state secrets” made it impossible to proceed with a public trial. The family sought compensation for the firing and failure to medical or other assistance. “Even the most compelling necessity cannot overcome the claim of privilege if the court is ultimately satisfied that… secrets are at stake,” Judge Laura Taylor Swain wrote.
