A New Jersey court upheld a Hoboken law that requires developers and others seeking zoning variances and other exemptions from development regulations to disclose their campaign contributions. The law had been challenged by Cingular Wireless, which wants to install wireless communications facilities in the city. Superior Court Judge Barbara A. Curran said that the city has the right to ensure that the development process is as open and transparent as possible. She added: “The opportunity for improper conduct or undue influences are ripe within the redevelopment area.” (1/11/06)
